Handmade Dog Soap {Eco & Natural}

Mucky pup essentials

Rigorously tested by spaniels!

As a spaniel owner, half my life is spent washing out the thickest mud. So I appreciate a soap that is quick to lather, as a full body spaniel wash is a workout enough, and a lovely natural scent to alleviate eau de bogtrotter.

These are the soap bars I use.

All are handmade in the UK. They give a deep clean and rinse out easily without leaving residue. Very economical, they last for ages.

Size:

  • Approx. L: 8cm W: 6.5cm D: 1.5cm
  • Approx. 90g-110g
  • As they are handmade, they vary slightly in shape and colour.

See below for more info.

Please allow 2-7 working days for dispatch. If you need an item dispatched asap, please contact me before ordering.

Tracked 48 & 24 are available in the UK. Bare in mind, Royal Mail strikes are planned throughout Nov & Dec.

FAQ

How do I use the dog soap bars?

There is a guide on the inside of each soap label, however it’s so easy! You just wet it, lather it in your hands, it lathers up really well, rub the lather on them and you can rub the soap directly on them too once they are wet, then it rinses out really nicely… Just like human shampoo bars, if you’ve ever used one of those. Fur will feel squeaky clean as it leaves no residues and will fluff up nicely once dry.

Are they good for sensitive skin?

They’re ideal for minor skin conditions like itchy skin and dandruff, however, for very sensitive skin or serious conditions always consult with your vet.

What if I’m using medicated shampoo the vet recommended?

The soaps are not medicated so if anyone is using medicated shampoo as advised by their vet, it would be advisable to continue to do so.

What makes them dog-safe?

They are made with 100% natural ingredients and are tested on humans. A safe level of dog-friendly essential oils are used, about half that would be used for humans (so it may not smell as strong as some human soaps but it smells divine nonetheless). The pH levels are tested to ensure it is suitable.

What’s the pH of the soap?

A dog’s skin pH runs from 6.2 to 8.62. Batches are tested to ensure the pH is within that range and will naturally be pH6-pH8 (almost always pH6.5-pH7) which is the ideal range for dogs.

How long does a bar last?

The soaps will keep for ages however the fragrance of the essential oils will evaporate out from the outer layers of the soap. Once the soap is used again, the smell will return. If left for a very long time (more than 2 years) some of the oils may go rancid. The soaps have a shelf life of 2 years. Over time it’s extremely cost-effective when compared to commercial shampoo. One bar will wash approx. 20 small dogs.

Are there any dogs who shouldn’t use the soap?

They are suitable for all dogs, however, they’re not ideal for Cockerpoo’s (or poo crosses in general) as their coats need conditioning as well as washing but can be used to wash your dog if you follow with a conditioner. They’re not ideal for pregnant bitches or puppies under 14 weeks who are more sensitive to essential oils.

Can I use it on cats?

No, the essential oils are toxic to cats.

Can I use it on horses?

Yes, yes, yes! It works wonders on tails and manes as well as the rest of the body.

Can I use it myself?

Yes, it’s tested on humans so humans can use it too! They’re lovely and soft! However, as it’s formulated to match the pH of dogs’ skin which is higher (more alkaline) than the pH of human skin, if you have sensitive skin you may find it quite drying and a little irritating.
